Pregnancy guidance
RecommendedCanned anchovies are recommended during pregnancy as an FDA Best Choice fish. They are exceptionally rich in omega-3 DHA and EPA, which support fetal brain development, while remaining very low in mercury. The FDA and EPA recommend eating two to three four-ounce servings of low-mercury fish each week. Because canned anchovies contain elevated sodium from curing, rinse them or use them sparingly to flavor pasta sauces and salads.
