Pregnancy guidance

Avoid

Cooked beef liver must be avoided during pregnancy due to its extremely high concentration of preformed vitamin A. Excessive retinol consumption is teratogenic and poses documented risks of fetal malformations and congenital birth defects. Health authorities including the NHS and ACOG explicitly instruct pregnant women to avoid eating liver and liver-based products. Obtain necessary iron and vitamin B12 from muscle meats, poultry, or prenatal vitamins instead.
