Pregnancy guidance
Safe with precautionsWild Eastern oysters are safe during pregnancy only when served thoroughly cooked. They offer abundant zinc, iron, and omega-3 fats with very low mercury levels. The FDA and CDC warn that raw oysters carry severe risks of life-threatening Vibrio infections and must be boiled, fried, or baked until internal temperatures reach 145°F. Never eat raw oysters on the half shell during pregnancy, even with hot sauce or lemon juice.
