Pregnancy guidance
LimitNorthern pike should be limited during pregnancy due to moderate mercury bioaccumulation. It supplies lean protein and B vitamins, but as a predatory freshwater fish, it concentrates environmental contaminants. The EPA advises limiting freshwater predatory fish to one four-ounce serving weekly and checking local fish advisories. Cook thoroughly to 145°F until the flesh flakes easily away from the bone.
