Pregnancy guidance
Safe with precautionsRoasted wild boar is safe during pregnancy only when cooked to a thoroughly high internal temperature. While it provides zinc and protein, wild swine can carry Trichinella spiralis parasites and Toxoplasma gondii. The USDA requires cooking wild game meats to an internal temperature of at least 160°F to destroy all foodborne pathogens. In addition, the CDC advises pregnant women to avoid wild game harvested with lead ammunition due to lead toxicity risks.
