Pregnancy guidance
LimitLemon-lime Powerade is safe for pregnant women to drink, but routine consumption should be limited. It supplies sodium and potassium electrolytes to replenish fluids, but typical bottles contain significant amounts of added sugar. The ACOG notes that plain water meets the hydration needs of most pregnant women unless strenuous exercise or severe morning sickness occurs. Dilute sports drinks with equal parts water or reserve them for times of acute electrolyte loss.
