Pregnancy guidance
CautionFormed beef jerky requires caution and should be limited during pregnancy due to high sodium and drying processes. While commercial jerky is shelf-stable and delivers protein and zinc, it can carry high bacterial survival risks if under-processed, and homemade jerky must be avoided entirely. Furthermore, extreme sodium density can elevate blood pressure and fluid retention. Satisfy meat cravings with freshly cooked steak or roasted beef cooked to safe internal temperatures.
