Pregnancy guidance
Safe with precautionsFresh egg yolks are safe with precautions during pregnancy and must be cooked until completely firm or pasteurized. They deliver exceptionally dense choline to support fetal brain and spinal cord growth, along with vitamin B12 and lutein. Raw or runny egg yolks present a serious hazard of Salmonella contamination for pregnant women. Use only pasteurized eggs when making sauces like hollandaise, or cook yolks until hard.
