Pregnancy guidance
Safe with precautionsPan-broiled ground ostrich is safe with precautions during pregnancy when cooked thoroughly. This ratite meat provides lean animal protein, heme iron, and vitamin B12 comparable to lean beef with less saturated fat. Cook ground ostrich to an internal temperature of 165°F to ensure destruction of all potential foodborne bacteria. Serve it on a whole-wheat bun with avocado and sliced tomatoes.
