Pregnancy guidance
Safe with precautionsFresh raw ginger root is safe and effective in culinary amounts during pregnancy. ACOG recognizes ginger as a proven non-pharmacologic remedy for nausea and morning sickness in early pregnancy. Wash the root under running water, scrub away dirt, and peel the skin before grating into hot water or meals. Limit intake to roughly one gram of fresh ginger daily, and avoid high-dose medicinal supplements.
