Pregnancy guidance
Safe with precautionsRaw Irish moss seaweed is safe in modest dietary amounts during pregnancy when sourced from reputable suppliers. It contributes trace minerals, potassium, and soluble carrageenan fiber. Because wild marine seaweeds can accumulate heavy metals and excess iodine, NHS and EFSA advise against excessive seaweed consumption during pregnancy. Rinse the moss thoroughly to remove sand and simmer into broths or warm beverages in small culinary amounts.
