Pregnancy guidance
RecommendedBaked taco shells are recommended during pregnancy as a crunchy whole grain corn option. They provide whole grain dietary fiber, zinc, and energizing carbohydrates while containing less fat than deep-fried shells. The USDA Dietary Guidelines suggest corn tortillas and baked shells as excellent vehicles for nutrient-dense meal building. Fill baked shells with fully cooked lean ground beef or black beans, shredded pasteurized cheese, and avocado.
