Pregnancy guidance
LimitSalted mustard cabbage is safe in very small quantities, but should be strictly limited during pregnancy. While it supplies trace minerals and fiber from mustard greens, the heavy salting creates extreme sodium levels. ACOG and USDA advise monitoring high-sodium foods to help prevent excessive fluid retention and manage maternal blood pressure. Soak and rinse the cabbage in fresh water before using, and use it sparingly as a garnish rather than a primary vegetable.
